Sorry that this post is quite very unrelated, but I just happy with Linkworth that connect us (website owners) with the advertisers easily and so that we can do private advertising faster. I promise it’s not because I got paid writing this post. It’s simply it’s spending my time struggling to get pennies from Google Adsense !! For a low-traffic “not so niche” blog like this one, it seems that I can make more money with Linkworth which I just need to posting links and putting banner or links at your homepage or sidebar. I don’t need to find any clickers from my visitors outside.

Linkworth has much more standard prices. Linkworth ads are flexible because they got many programs. Once an advertiser signs up with you, they will seem to stick around month after month. Isn’t this so cool? So far, I have 2 advertisers in my Linkworth account. That’s so happy for me. I got my first payment from paypal and I hope it will stick to me and I will get paid month by month.

The Linkworth site is generally easy to use. Even the reports more clearer than any other bullshit advertising programs out there. Linkworth also got their own affiliate program. For anyone has a blog or website and want to monetize it more money, I would definitely recommend Linkworth. It’s done well by me so far. Unless their prices suddenly drop into the middle of the sea. In Anyway, I’ll be sticking with Linkworth.

If you found that you want to go to Movies 3 or 4 times just because of you want to watch them all, BUT YOU ALSO WANT TO SAVE MONEY. Here is the solution, find a good and decent FREE ONLINE WATCHING MOVIES / CINEMA, as in this free online cinema.

In there, you can watch a decent quality of movies whenever the DVD has been released. Because, I think you won’t be able to watch movies freely if the ORIGINAL DVD has never been released, will you? Hey, hey, hey, watching in Cinema is more adrenaline because it got big screen. But I don’t think all movies is good watching in a big screen, for example drama movies or love movies, it sucks if you watching it in a big screen.

Hey, you can download it free too. But for those who got slow connection + limited bandwidth, this will always to be a big issue!! Still, go to a cinema if you think it’s better to watch it from a cinema, but watch the other good movies too in the free online cinema from the above link I provided.

I’ve been so busy these days, so a bit confuse what to posts I need to publish and also plus this tjenarvi.com got suspended due to has never been improved and got a lot of spam.  I got more 1800+ spams in a week last time.  So that’s why I got suspended by my hosting provider.  Sorry for the inconvenience lately. I swear I will post more in the next couple days. I am Busy…NO MORE……(I HOPE SO…hehehe)

Thank God that tjenarvi.com is online now and improved.  I wonder if any visitors realized the speed improvement I have made.  I hope I can do more improvement so that I can save a lot of CPU resources.  For now on, I need to research first whether the current tweks on this site is sufficient for now. Here is my last post about what I did on this to improve its speed. It was my first aid to this site, hope it improved a lot !!

This is the drawbacks if you want to find a cheap hosting, shared server and limited CPU usage, YOU MUST FACE IT.  It’s not “you have to”, but YOU MUST !!

Well if you are only 100-200-500 visitors a day, any provider can handle it.  Except, your Wordpress plugins are buggy, too many scripts and etc. Here are the tips from me on wordpress….as in the following….

Here are my improvements to reduce CPU usage resources:
1. I already removed the “related posts” wordpress plugins.  Research more on Google that the plugin take a lot of resources, stay away from “related posts” plugin on shared hosting (Except if you are on VPS or dedicated).

2. Removed all UNUSED plugins inside wp-content/plugins.  Do not keep unused and non active plugins folder exist.

3. Use caching plugins for wordpress like wp-cache, best one is “wp-supercache” wordpress plugin.  Man, this is very important and your blog will far more faster. Be careful, your hosting provider might not support the modules needed a lot by wp-supercache plugin.  You can still use wp-cache plugin by the way.  Thank GOD Webhostingpad allow me to use wp-supercache.

4. I also remove “popularity contest plugin”.  I just guess that this may cause CPU usage problem.  Because anything that is too much calculating on “grabbing data from database”, will in result taking the provider’s server CPU resources.  Why don’t use free service to get better result in Feedjit?

5. Be careful on ads, too many ads can also cause CPU problem.  I removed up to 3 ads scripts (peel up javascript ads, amazon widget, gameduell widget).  Be careful on some Amazon widget.

6. Last but not least, upgrade your wordpress whenever there is a NEW VERSION.

With all of these, this blog loading is much more faster and FASTER !!  As we are only small blogs, I am sure that many users will not ready yet for VPS or dedicated servers, I am sure that no one will move to that plan, as the blog is still in very small traffic.  Unless we are having in thousands visitors a day and….of course thousands of $$$  a day, a dedicated server will never a problem for me !!

But unfortunately China Firewall sometimes blocking those websites…only sometimes…

But maybe only in Beijing, because I heard that in Chengdu, it’s different thing…
For example, when before Olympic, the wikipedia page always got blocked in Beijing, but not in Chengdu….

Anyway, I am as a foreigner very disappointed with the China connection…
I would better having a very slow dial up connection rather than nothing…

As in my earlier post here and here, it’s the time to explain to you what is called proxy.

The exchange of information in Internet is made by the “client – server” model. A client sends a request (what files he needs) and a server sends a reply (required files).

For close cooperation (full understanding) between a client and a server the client sends additional information about itself: a version and a name of an operating system, configuration of a browser (including its name and version) etc.

This information can be necessary for the server in order to know which web-page should be given (open) to the client. There are different variants of web-pages for different configurations of browsers. However, as long as web-pages do not usually depend on browsers, it makes sense to hide this information from the web-server.

What your browser transmits to a web-server:

• a name and a version of an operating system

• a name and a version of a browser

• configuration of a browser (display resolution, color depth, java / javascript support, …)

• IP-address of a client

• Other information

The most important part of such information (and absolutely needless for a web-server) is information about IP-address. Using your IP it is possible to know about you the following:

• a country where you are from

• a city

• your provider’s name and e-mail

• your physical address

Information, transmitted by a client to a server is available (accessible) for a server as environment variables. Every information unit is a value of some variable. If any information unit is not transmitted, then corresponding variable will be empty (its value will be undetermined).

These are some environment variables:

• REMOTE_ADDR ? IP address of a client

• HTTP_VIA ? if it is not empty, then a proxy is used. Value is an address (or several addresses) of a proxy server, this variable is added by a proxy server itself if you use one.

• HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR ? if it is not empty, then a proxy is used. Value is a real IP address of a client (your IP), this variable is also added by a proxy server if you use one.

• HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE ? what language is used in browser (what language a page should be displayed in)

• HTTP_USER_AGENT ? so called “a user?s agent”. For all browsers this is Mozilla. Furthermore, browser?s name and version (e.g. MSIE 5.5) and an operating system (e.g. Windows 98) is also mentioned here.

• HTTP_HOST ? is a web server?s name

This is a small part of environment variables. In fact there are much more of them (DOCUMENT_ROOT, HTTP_ACCEPT_ENCODING, HTTP_CACHE_CONTROL, HTTP_CONNECTION, SERVER_ADDR, SERVER_SOFTWARE, SERVER_PROTOCOL, …). Their quantity can depend on settings of both a server and a client.

These are examples of variable values:

• REMOTE_ADDR = 194.85.1.1

• HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE = ru

• HTTP_USER_AGENT = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 98)

• HTTP_HOST = www.webserver.ru

• HTTP_VIA = 194.85.1.1 (Squid/2.4.STABLE7)

• HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR = 194.115.5.5

Anonymity at work in Internet is determined by what environment variables “hide” from a web-server.

If a proxy server is not used, then environment variables look in the following way:

• REMOTE_ADDR = your IP

• HTTP_VIA = not determined

• HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR = not determined

According to how environment variables “hided” by proxy servers, there are several types of proxies
Transparent Proxies

They do not hide information about your IP address:

• REMOTE_ADDR = proxy IP

• HTTP_VIA = proxy IP

• HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR = your IP

The function of such proxy servers is not the improvement of your anonymity in Internet. Their purpose is information cashing, organization of joint access to Internet of several computers, etc.
Anonymous Proxies

All proxy servers, that hide a client?s IP address in any way are called anonymous proxies

Simple Anonymous Proxies

These proxy servers do not hide a fact that a proxy is used, however they replace your IP with its own:

• REMOTE_ADDR = proxy IP

• HTTP_VIA = proxy IP

• HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR = proxy IP

These proxies are the most widespread among other anonymous proxy servers.

Distorting Proxies

As well as simple anonymous proxy servers these proxies do not hide the fact that a proxy server is used. However a client?s IP address (your IP address) is replaced with another (arbitrary, random) IP:

• REMOTE_ADDR = proxy IP

• HTTP_VIA = proxy IP

• HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR = random IP address

High Anonymity Proxies

These proxy servers are also called “high anonymity proxy”. In contrast to other types of anonymity proxy servers they hide a fact of using a proxy:

• REMOTE_ADDR = proxy IP

• HTTP_VIA = not determined

• HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR = not determined

That means that values of variables are the same as if proxy is not used, with the exception of one very important thing ? proxy IP is used instead of your IP address.
Summary

Depending on purposes there are transparent and anonymity proxies. However, remember, using proxy servers you hide only your IP from a web-server, but other information (about browser configuration) is accessible!

As in my previous posts about sourceforge.net blocked in china and how to bypass it, this morning I found again blocked site on www.adbrite.com.  Adbrite provides a nice feature in their advertisement for picture (Britepic), flv video (InVideo) as well as its link ads and etc.

Unfortunately I couldn’t open the website this morning, I thought it’s about maintenance of www.adbrite.com server but I was wrong.  Even you can’t ping www.adbrite.com

Again, as in my previous post sourceforge.net blocked in china, is it because of Tibet again? Freetibet? Savetibet? Is it talking about against government again?

Maybe, this time against “Chinese people”? Who knows that boycot actions is very popular in this 2008 YEAR ??

If you find in country like China blocking websites like sourceforge.net or FreeTibet.org or SaveTibet.org or even you can’t do “cache:tjenarvi.com” in Google or even more “wikipedia.org” (long time ago, year 2007), I have solutions if you met these cases again for you so that you still can surf those websites:

Three Workaround options:

1. Online Anonymous Browsing

If you don’t want to be confused with IE or Firefox setting, and don’t want trying to get the Proxy IP address and port, even you tried to get hard to find SSH account, and you only want to access the statis pages, there is a good solution for you.

Try open http://www.thefreecountry.com/security/anonymous.shtml and see Free Anonymous Surfing or Browse with Privacy Protection section, over there you can just start surfing anonymously by just entering your the URL you want to visit to the textfield form provided.

Let’s say we use,  https://proxify.com/ or http://www.proxybrowsing.com/ or http://htmlblock.co.uk/anonymous_web_browser/

Pretty easy huh?  If you want to get more, try search “anonymous browsing” in Google.

Update: Alternatively, here is the list of proxies website that you can use to Unblock Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, and etc. It works for me especially when I am blog walking to those friends whom using blogspot

2. Proxy by getting their IP address and port
This is the common way to skip the blocking websites.  Go to Google.com or Yahoo.com or any search engines and type “free proxy” or “free proxy list”.  You just need to know what is the IP address and the port number.

3. SSH Tunneling Dynamic Port Forwarding
A more professional way, but you to have SSH account.  What is SSH? Go to wiki and find it what it is.  I won’t explain any theoritical stuff here.  If you try to find out free SSH account then go to http://www.red-pill.eu/freeunix.shtml.  Most of them you have to register with their IRC.

To SSH Tunneling in Windows

Please go to Google again and download putty.  Then follow this screen-shots:

1. Open your putty and go to tunnels

2. Source port could be 8080, or 3128 or 1080

3. Select Dynamic

4. Click Add

5. You can see that it is added

6. Login your SSH with putty.

• Go to Session

• Input your username@yourhost.com

• Input your SSH port, default is 22

• You could also click “save” to save session

• Click “Open” to login

To SSH Tunneling in Linux.

Just go to terminal and type
# ssh -D 8080 username@yourhost.com

To use SSH Tunneling as a PROXY, in Firefox

1. Go to Firefox Options.

In Windows: “Tools” Menu -> “Options”

In Linux:  “Edit”Menu -> “Preferences”

2.  Set up “Socks Host” field as localhost and port number is the port you have specified when you login with putty in Windows or “ssh -D” in Linux.

To use Free PROXY in Firefox

• Just use fill up the IP address and the port number in “HTTP proxy” field, in Firefox.

For Internet Explorer (IE)

Actually it’s the same as in Firefox, just the place the set is different

1. Go to menu “Tools” -> “Internet Options” and follow these screenshots.  Go to “Connections” tab and click “settings”

2. Check “use proxy server” option and then click “Advanced”

3. The same as in Firefox, if you got free proxy server, just put the IP address and the port number in “HTTP” field.  For SSH tunneling proxy, the same as in Firefox, put “localhost” in Socks field and port number you specified when you login SSH.

Mainland China blocked SourceForge.  It is the world’s largest development and you can download repository of Open Source code and applications freely.  It may or may not related to the recent anti-China protests against Beijing Olympic 2008 Games.  It will begin on 8 August 2008.  A few days before, A very famous free IDE Code Editor Notepad++ start to boycott Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.  The project’s developer said, it is not againts Chinese people, it is against Chinese Government’s repression against Tibetan  unrest earlier in this year.

In 2002, Sourceforge.net has once banned by China. However, it was not anymore in 2003

I have solutions how-to-bypass-blocked-websites using proxy or SSH tunneling dynamic port forwarding.  Though you have to get free proxy server, or even better you have SSH account.

When I “tracert www.souceforge.net”, I could see that problem may be coming from a router of China Telecom.

Sourceforge.net users in Beijing, I could 100% confirm this problem.  I also tried traceroute to sourceforge, but I could only find the connecting dropped at a Beijing ISP’s gateway router.  The summary and download pages are blocked, whilst the project’s respective homepages are available.

Chinese authorities whenever they want, they would blocks websites that it finds objective, especially dealing with politics sensitive subjects.  Such as, Many websites relating tibet and politics also blocked such as FreeTibet.org and SaveTibet.org.  Is that the reason of this blocking?
